Former Manchester United striker, now DC United manager, Wayne Rooney, has described Lionel Messi as the best player ever.
This following the 36-year-old move to the USA Major League Soccer club Inter Miami.
Messi left Paris Saint-Germain for Inter Miami this summer following the expiration of his contract with the French Ligue 1 champions.
“It is a great move, obviously, for the MLS,” Rooney told Sky Sports when asked about Messi’s imminent arrival in Miami.
“Commercially, it will be huge. It will draw more interest in the game from different regions of the world – I am sure it will do that as well, because you are getting arguably the best player to ever play the game.
“I am sure he will come here, and want to be competitive, and want to try and help Miami to climb up the table.
“I think not just fans, but coaches, players – everyone is excited to have him in the league.”
