Another Premier League weekend meant another weekend of spectacular goals.
With two weeks left in the season, there was much to play for in matchweek 36, with the title, top four, and survival races all poised to go down to the wire.
The top goals from another hectic two days of Premier League mayhem are collected here.
- Kristoffer Ajer vs Southampton
Brentford thrashed Southampton with three well-worked goals, the best of which came late in the game when Kristoffer Ajer scored his first goal for the club.
The gangly 6’5 defender spent the day out of position at right-back, but he handled the Saints’ pressure admirably and superbly secured the clinching the Bees needed.
Ajer brilliantly moved away from Nathan Redmond and danced his way past Mohammed Salisu, putting the Ghanaian on his backside and placing the ball between Fraser Forster’s legs after receiving the ball on the turn from Christian Norgaard.
- Romelu Lukaku vs Wolves
Chelsea felt Romelu Lukaku’s second goal of the day would be enough to grab all three points against Wolves across west London.
The Belgian doubled his score seconds later with a superb weak-foot shot from 20 yards after breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot.
- Francisco Trincao vs Chelsea
Wolves fought back into the game with little over 20 minutes remaining.
Chiquinho moved fast to free Francisco Trincao on the counter after Mateo Kovacic was detained. Antonio Rudiger kept his distance from the Barcelona loanee, eventually tangling with the retreating Kovacic and enabling Trincao a yard of room to curl his attempt around Edouard Mendy.
- Moises Caicedo vs Man Utd
The weekend’s best result came from The Amex, as Brighton ripped Manchester United apart and won 4-0.
All of the Seagulls’ goals (and several more chances) were the result of sophisticated plays, but the best of the lot was Moises Caicedo’s opening, which has seen him progress from strength to strength since breaking into the starting XI.
Pascal Gross’ deflected shot dropped pleasantly to the young Ecuadorian, who took a touch to settle before unleashing a ferocious 25-yard effort that miraculously missed a dozen or more players in front of him and beat David de Gea.
- Vitalii Mykolenko vs Leicester
Vitaliy Mykolenko has put in some outstanding performances for Everton this season, despite the craziness of their relegation struggle.
In the absence of Lucas Digne, the Ukrainian has been defensively competent but has lacked ability going forward, but this volley will give Everton supporters optimism that he has the necessary skill to contribute at both ends of the game.
Mykolenko was on the outskirts of the area when Alex Iwobi’s swerving cross fell to him. He nailed it for the first time and never looked back.
- Said Benrahma vs Norwich
Our last goal of the week comes from Carrow Road, where West Ham thrashed Norwich 4-0.
Said Benrahma scored two of them, with his second goal of the day earning us a spot on this list.
Jarrod Bowen’s cutback slipped into the Canaries’ penalty area and bobbled into Benrahma’s path, where the Algerian’s simple side-foot touch created enough force to surprise Tim Krul and strike the top of the Norwich net.
