Newly promoted EPL club Nottingham Forest have signed French defender Giulian Biancone on a three-year contract from Troyes.
The Ligue 1 club claims that the estimated £5 million fee is a record for them.
Biancone, 22, began his career at Monaco before spending two years on loan at Cercle Brugge in Belgium before joining Troyes last summer.
“He’s a versatile defender who is a very strong addition at centre-back or on the right,” Forest manager Steve Cooper said.
Last year, Cooper captained the City Ground side to a victory over Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final, which resulted in the team’s promotion to the Premier League.
Biancone is Forest’s third major signing of the summer, following the season-long loan of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson and the permanent signing of Nigerian attacker Taiwo Awonyi.
Last season, he appeared in 33 games for Troyes, scoring once and helping the club finish 15th in Ligue 1.
“Having spoken to the head coach, it’s clear that there are exciting times ahead and I’m looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates and getting started in the Premier League,” Biancone said.
