The National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Agbo Major, has said that the party’s presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, may accept to be running mate to Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
He stated this while speaking with DAILY Trust via phone on alliance talks between the party and the Labour Party (LP).
KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that Kwankwaso confirmed NNPP are in talks with his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, over a possible merger during an interview with BBC Hausa.
Major, who described the alliance talks as progressing smoothly, added that talks were still ongoing and he wouldn’t want to speculate
Obi is the presidential candidate of the LP and there have been speculations in some quarters that he might run a joint ticket with Kwankwaso as his running mate.
The NNPP spokesman, however, said Kwankwaso or Obi could accept being each other’s vice.
He said, “By the time we are done with the discussions, Nigerians will be happy, whichever way it turns out to be.”
