Album Review: Falz performs another experiment in his latest album, “BAHD”

Falz B.A.H.D album review

Falz The Bahd Guy, a Nigerian rapper, musician, actor, or just Falz, released his sixth solo album BAHD on June 9.

Tiwa Savage, Chike, The Cavemen, Timaya, Boy Spyce, L.A.X, and BNXN, aka Buju, are among the musicians featured on the 12-track album project.

Falz had not released an album in nearly three years, except 2019’s “Moral Instruction.” However, Falz had promised that BAHD would be different from his other projects in its debut, and he didn’t lie.

Falz sings more on BAHD than he usually does a notable switch from Afrorap to the more appealing and progressive Afropop and Afrobeats.

However, as with his other albums, all of the tracks on BAHD are deliberate. The sounds are unique, and the mixing and mastering are flawless.

Falz B.A.H.D album review

Now, let’s take a dig at each track individually, especially the tracks where he featured other A-list artists and try to give a brief review on them;

1) Another Me

Falz is trying with both singing and rap on the same track! This is flames. Falz is mostly a rapper, so for him to dabble with singing on a song is a significant move that makes sense because it sounds so lovely.

The vocals in the song are as authentic as any male singer can sing, and it perfectly embodies the theme: there will never be another Falz D Bahd Guy!

Falz’s album opener is “Another Me.” It is short and apt.

2) Beautiful Sunflower ft. Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage is more R&B than Afrobeats, but she should have been on All Night rather than Beautiful Sunflower.

We can tell it will not be a smash single the moment Falz starts singing it. However, with the appropriate collaboration, All Night has the potential to become a hit song.

Unfortunately, Tiwa Savage is not on this song if you want it to explode. But don’t get it twisted. She gave it her all on the track, but even the performance and song arrangement of Beautiful Sunflower aren’t as good as they could be.

3) Knee down ft. Chike

Allowing Chike to begin this song was a wise decision. The hook is insane! It’s what makes this song so catchy. Falz the Bahd Guy sounds like Ladipoe on Mavin’s Overdose by the time he takes over.

This song has a lot of repeat value because Falz sang on it and rapped and blended it as effectively as he could.

Knee Down is an incredible tune, and it contains everything. Chike and Falz deserve credit for this song. It’s a love song, but you’d never know because the music is delivered so softly and maturely.

4) Woman ft. The Cavemen

We get that having The Cavemen on your album signifies you enjoy their sound or that you know people like their song, but it now appears that having them on your record is a requirement. Still, let’s give Falz and The Cavemen a 60% on this one.

It does provide some visual images, and the Cavemen do not strive to over-deliver. But, until the end, it sounds incredible.

5) Inside ft. Timaya, Boy Spyce

Timaya delivered on his track, but it would have been much better if Boy Spyce had been the sole performer.

He would have increased the song’s chances of success because his verse was significantly superior to Timaya’s. His glibs are also on fire!

6) Ice Cream Featuring BNXN

What a fantastic way to conclude the Bahd Album!

This song follows “All Night” and “Gentlemen.” It’s a timeless masterpiece that makes you want to revisit the Bahd Album. But, apart from “Gentlemen,” “Ice Cream” boasts the next best “Falz-killer” rap talents.

In conclusion

BAHD is an unqualified masterpiece and will be remembered as one of the most iconic Nigerian albums ever released.

Falz created the ideal album, with each song painstakingly crafted to sound unique while remaining true to the project’s fundamental theme.

Falz’s “Bahd” album is a successful experiment of rap and Pop music.
