Here are 5 Muslim Nigerian celebrities.
1. Adedimeji Lateef
The Nollywood actor is a devout Muslim who recently married his lifelong love and colleague, Mo Bimpe. Mo Bimpe, who was raised as a devoted Christian, turned to Islam after marrying the actor.
Adedimeji revealed the Muslim name of his woman, Rahmatullah, in a post where he pledged his love to her.
According to Islamic tradition, the couple had a Nikkai ceremony.
2. Taaoma
Maryam Apaokagi, also known as Taaooma, is a Muslim. She is a social media influencer, comedian, content creator, and cinematographer.
She is widely renowned for her ability to play various roles in her comic routines. The creator of the sketch has always been outspoken about his Islamic faith.
Taaoma told the Guardian about her childhood and how she was born into a Muslim family. In addition, Taaoma always covers her head, as she stated in an Instagram post when followers questioned her why she does so.
“Because I am a Muslim, I cover my hair.
My parents used to often encourage me to cover my hair when I was younger, but now – my faith has grown stronger, I cover my hair, and I do things the way God has directed.”
3. Reminisce
Remilekun Kaleed Safaru, as Reminisce, is an award-winning Nigerian Muslim rap artist from Ogun State. During one of his interviews, the rapper said that his stage name, ‘Reminisce,’ was inspired by his Islamic name.
“When it came to picking a name, I was going to go with my Muslim name, Kaleed, but it didn’t sound hip-hop-friendly. I was looking for a name that was similar to my first name, so I came up with “Reminisce,” which turned out to be a good choice.”
Reminisce made his acting debut as Makanaki in Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys.
4. Naira Marley
Azeez Adeshina Fashola, also known as ‘Naira Marley,’ is a well-known Nigerian hip-hop musician, rapper, and composer. He was born into a Muslim family and attended Agege Islamic School, where he completed his ‘Walimot,’ or Quran graduation.
Naira Marley is a Muslim, but not everyone knows because of his divisive fan group, the “Marlians.”
5. CDQ
Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf was born into a Muslim family on May 6, 1985. He is a Nigerian indigenous hip-hop rapper and songwriter best known for his track “Nowo E Soke” starring Wizkid and Masterkraft’s Indomie, on which he was featured alongside Olamide.
