Derek Chisora was born and raised in Zimbabwe until the age of 16 when he moved to the UK with his family. His parents divorced when he was four, and he spent most of his early years in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, in the care of his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather. Derek Chisora’s Boxing Career

Derek Chisora started boxing at the age of 19, and his career began with amateur fights. He won the ABA super-heavyweight title in 2006, after defeating Tom Dallas in the final, and also won a gold medal at the Four Nations Championships. Chisora made his professional debut on 17th February 2007, at the Wembley Arena in London, beating Hungarian István Kecskés by a technical knockout (TKO) in the second round.

He continued to fight other professional boxers and went on to win against Tony Booth by a point decision on 7th April 2007. His third fight was at the York Hall in London against Welshman Darren Morgan on 13th October 2007, which he won. He also scored a four-round PTS victory over Paul Butlin in January 2008 at the York Hall. In June 2008, he defeated Sam Sexton by TKO in a fight over six rounds. He fought his sixth bout on 12th September 2008 against Shawn McLean – with the former winning via sixth-round stoppage.

After that, he fought and won against Lee Swaby, Neil Simpson, Daniil Peretyatko, and Paul Butlin. Later, he was suspended for four months for biting Butlin’s ear during the fifth round of their contest while in a clinch. He was also fined £2,500. He defeated Georgian Zurab Noniashvili on 9th October 2009. Next, he defeated former world title challenger Williams, winning the British title by stoppage.

On 18th September 2010, at the LG Arena, in Birmingham, he defended his title for the first time by defeating Sam Sexton. On 23rd May 2011, it was announced that Chisora would defend his British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles against Tyson Fury on 23 July 2011, at the Wembley Arena in London. Both men went into the fight with a record of 14–0. However, on 23rd July 2011, Chisora got his first professional career loss at the hands of the then-undefeated prospect Tyson Fury.

After defeating Remigijus Ziausys, Derek Chisora suffered a split decision loss to Robert Helenius on December 3, 2011. He then faced Vitali Klitschko for the WBC heavyweight championship on February 18, 2012, resulting in his third career defeat. On July 14, 2012, he fought David Haye in a bout called Licensed To Thrill, which ended in a TKO win for Haye in the sixth round.

Chisora went on to win fights against Hector Alfredo Avila, Malik Scott, Edmund Gerber, Ondrej Pala, and Kevin Johnson. He had a rematch against Tyson Fury on November 29, 2014, at ExCeL London. He was then scheduled to fight Robert Helenius on May 16, 2017, in Helsinki, Finland, after the fight was postponed due to scheduling conflicts.

Chisora faced Agit Kabayel in a bout he lost, followed by a win against Carlos Takam on June 15, 2018. After this victory, Chisora secured three more consecutive wins over Senad Gashi, Artur Szpilka, and David Price. However, his next two fights resulted in his career’s 10th and 11th losses, against Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker, respectively.

On June 7, 2022, it was announced that Chisora would have a rematch against Kubrat Pulev on July 9 at The O2 Arena in London, broadcast live on DAZN. Chisora won the fight via split decision.
