The Cleanser, written, produced, and directed by James Abinibi, is one movie that would make you smile angrily if there’s anything like that.
The film tells the story of a nation preparing for her forthcoming elections when the leading political party, Democratic Conscience Party (D.C.P), starts losing its prominent chieftains to mysterious assassinations.
The S.I.S is contacted to investigate this, and Funmi Williams (Kehinde Bankole) was made the head of the case.
In the course of her investigation, the last piece of evidence that would help identify who ‘The Cleanser’ is, points to her older brother, Oluwole (Bolanle Ninalowo.)
Funmi is left with the dilemma of upholding justice or looking away to protect her family.

An unrealistic storyline, The Cleanser clarifies what happens and continues to occur in Nigeria’s political circle.
However, the movie needs some cleansing itself, from the fake accents that is easily spotted, to the boring scenes, the prolonged dialogues, and lots more.
Still wondering why the director would switch roles by giving a Yoruba man an Igbo man’s role, and a Yoruba Man, an Hausa man’s role, expecting them to speak their accents fluently.
Kehinde Bankole didn’t do justice to her role, more like someone forced to join the cast.
The movie also had sound issues; in some cases, the sound effect comes after the action.
The ending was quite predicable, though.
Please don’t bother hitting the cinema to bore yourself with The Cleanser.
