This is not the best of times for ‘Your waist’ crooner, Iyanya, as he was recently charged with alleged car theft by the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The singer, was on Tuesday dragged to court and arraigned before Justice Okikiolu-Ighile of an Igbosere High Court.
Prosecution counsel Mr. Chukwu Agwu, alleged that the singer committed the offence sometimes in September 2018.
The court heard that the defendant allegedly dishonestly converted to his use or of another person, a Black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV marked MAVINIY.
Agwu told the court that the said vehicle belongs to the Iyanya’s former management company, The Temple Management Company Ltd.
The singer, however, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him.
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile subsequently released him to his lawyer and adjourned till February 27 and March 17, for ruling on his bail application and commencement of trial.
Meanwhile according to information made available to Kemifilani News by an inside source, Temple Management has been lenient with Iyanya who is their estranged artiste.
“Iyanya has been a bone on the neck for Temple management. He didn’t do half of what was on his contract papers and also swapped the official car given to him by the management team. They gave him some time to pay up what he was owing, but he refused to keep that part of his promise,” the source hinted.
The singer who once dated Ghanaian actress , Yvonne Nelson has also deleted all his photos on Instagram, leaving it empty.
