Michael Asiwaju, the owner of Asiwaju Royal Furniture in Ojo, Lagos, has reportedly committed suicide in a hotel located on 4th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos State, days after some ladies took to Twitter to accuse him of rape, an allegation he denied.
His corpse was said to have been discovered by a staff of Vickmick Villa Hotel and Suites, on Monday. The deceased drank an insecticide known as a sniper.
He checked into the hotel on Sunday, but on the next day, one of the cleaners who went to clean his room was said to have raised the alarm, upon discovering his lifeless body, with a foamy white substance coming out from his mouth.
Management of the hotel contacted the police at Festac division who arrived at the hotel and evacuated the body. Empty plastic bottles of Sniper were found on his hotel bed alongside the TV remote control.
On Saturday, he expressed his intention via his Twitter handle, shortly after a Twitter user, @thatgoddess, called him out for raping a woman inside his car. She, however, said facts about the allegation were still sketchy.
However, Asiwaju alleged that his former business partner, one Blessing, was behind the blackmail. He further revealed that the saga claimed the life of his ailing mother after she read the post online, adding that the blackmail had destroyed his family.
