New report has shown that the finance minister, Kemi Adeosun has already met with president Buhari as many as three times since her NYSC certificate scandal broke out.
According to Vanguard, the Presidency, on Friday, debunked the report that Pastor Tunde Bakare and the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. It has however been revealed that she has met with the president three times already during the week.
Pastor Bakare who was the running mate to President Buhari under the Congress for Progressive Change , CPC in 2011 presidential election, was sighted walking together with the Finance Minister to the President office about 2:30pm shortly after the weekly juma’at service at the State House Mosque Abuja. It was reported that the two persons met with the President behind closed doors.
But the Presidency has said that the two never met together with the President just as Pastor Bakare has stated that his visit to the presidency was on personal ground to thank President Buhari for the powerful delegation from government when his mother was committed to the mother earth.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President read, “Stories with insinuations are making the rounds that Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly and Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, met together with President Muhammadu Buhari at State House, Abuja, Friday. Far from the truth.
“The Minister was at the Presidential Villa in connection with the Annual General Meeting and 25th Anniversary Celebration of African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIMBANK) holding Saturday in Abuja, which would be graced by President Buhari.
“She ran into Pastor Bakare, who was on a scheduled visit to see the President, and they exchanged pleasantries. The cleric particularly thanked the Minister for finding time to attend his mother’s funeral, which took place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, penultimate weekend.
“Mrs Adeosun had seen President Buhari not fewer than three times earlier in the week, and did not need to meet with him again on Friday.
“This statement is to put events in proper perspective, and dispel all conjectures and fictive reporting.”
On his part, Pastor Bakare said, “The story published by some social and print media today is both cheap and sensational journalism.
“Hon. Min. Kemi Adeosun and I arrived at the Villa at different times. We met at the corridor. She went on to see someone else in the Villa and I went into a closed door meeting with PMB alone to thank him for sending a powerful delegation to my mother’s Home-going Celebration.
“This is the truth. The impression being created is as if she ran to me to speak to the President on her behalf. This impression is erroneous and false. I will appreciate that my side of the story is also published.”
